Disc Herniation, Sciatic Relief

Treatments for sciatic discomfort in the back as a result of herniated discs, or at least information about the many remedies to relieve symptoms are readily available online, thank goodness

No one wants to have to suffer through a herniated disc but there are plenty of options out there. What can you learn about herniated disc treatment, how to prepare and how to have a successful result?

What are the symptoms?

The first thing you need to know is that there are actually different types of therapy for a herniated disc, depending on different factors and your specific condition. Some of these factors include the symptoms which you are experiencing, your age and your past medical history, your activity level and the presence of worsening symptoms.

heat therapyLevels of care

Usually when you go for herniated disc treatments, the doctor will start slow with a milder program and then become more persistent if your discomfort continues and does not get better. As your condition becomes more aggressive, so will your remedy plan need to be more aggressive.

From the moment you are first diagnosed the doctor will begin evaluating your options. The first step is usually to restrict certain activities which make the condition worse. Many people find that just stopping the things that aggravate it can help the affected disc heal on its own. If this is still not working for you, or it seems that your condition is getting worse, you can move on to another stage of treatment. Often ice and  heat applications will be the next stage in the process. This helps relax the muscles and can also  ease your spasm or muscle ache.

Now if you are still going in order of relief possibilities, the next thing you will consider is  physical therapy . This is known to be very helpful. In addition, certain types of prescription medications may be offered at this time. Anti-inflammatory medications are often used to reduce swelling and the pressure that comes with joint swelling. In addition, your doctor may prescribe certain medications, oral steroids or epidural steroid injections. Sometimes as a last resort, surgery may be the only option to remove pressure around the nerves which causes severe physical distress.

As a last resort, when these other methods do not work, your doctor may suggest that you try surgery. It is only used in certain cases as some people are not good candidates for surgery. However, some people find that when nothing else has worked, they can find  relief after surgery. Only your doctor can tell you if this is the best choice for you.

Of course there are other options provided by natural alternative methods that you may wish to explore, some of which are listed at:  Natural Cures

A friend suggested to me that it might be a pinched nerve. I have tried Advil and IcyHot to no avail. The only person I know who is skilled enough in massage therapy to be able to do something about this is 3000 miles away.

For a pinched nerve, rest the affected area.

Do you have to get surgery if you have a pinched nerve

If it is severe enough, yes, surgery is an option

Drug therapy, analgesics and non-steroidal anit-inflammatory drugs are commonly used to treat conditions that are somewhat minor. There are still other options for pain relief that you can try such as muscle relaxants and opoids.

Treating with the use of drug therapies is a very popular method. There are a number of medications available that will help. Unfortunately some medications lead to suffering from certain side effects which can cause more harm than good.

To reduce swelling and inflammation, turning to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ketoprofen, Naproxen, ibuprofen and aspirin is common. The latest is NSAIDs, COX-2 Inhibitors which provide more hope that the severe discomfort will subside soon after taking appropriate dosage.

When it concerns using analgesics, Acetaminophen (Tylenol and Phenaphen ) are common brands that are being used to get relief from acute and even chronic back  conditions and are considered as suitable alternatives to NSAIDs.

For those who want relief from their severe state, opiods such as morphine and codeine are choices for fast action. You should always exercise caution when taking medications because some of them can be very addictive.

There is always the option of trying Flexeril or Valium, which are muscle relaxors. For severe cases a muscle relaxant can prove to be an ideal option. Your doctor might also recommend using NSAIDs as these are considered to be very effective.

If you prefer natural treatments they are aslo available, such as ReliefMD. This is an all natural pain relief that helps your joint pain and back pain. So you have many choices, either from your doctor or from using natural back pain cures.

Take Charge of Your Pain With Natural Back Relief

Many individuals these days are suffering from back pain, sometimes on an ongoing basis.

If your back only hurts from time to time, over the counter painkillers are OK to take. However if you have a persistent back problem, medication isn’t a long term solution. For these folks, there are quite a few natural approaches to treating the problem that can bring them relief without drugs.

> See Natural Remedies For The Treatment of Sciatica and Back Problems

Some of these approaches to natural relief are rooted in alternative medicine. Oftentimes those who suffer will get satisfactory results from these natural treatments.

Two of these methods of alternative medicine, acupressure and acupuncture, are applied to particular body parts in order to lessen muscle aches in the back. Both of these therapies have been shown to have a substantial effect on chronic conditions. Acupressure comprises applying pressure to specific regions of the body that are believed to affect the back, and thereby lessen the pain. The practice of acupuncture requires sticking very thin needles into the body; these needles are specifically created for this process. Based on traditional Chinese medicine, the placement of the needles is designed to alleviate discomfort in certain parts of the body.

Eft is one of the latest developments in energy therapy that uses acupressure in an easy to learn user friendly technique and has had consistently good results in bringing relief. Access the demonstration video here: Pain Relief with EFT

With these treatments, you will likely have to undergo several sessions in order to get it under control. Even just one session of acupressure can go a long way towards minimizing painful episodes and you may notice the results right away. For more permanent results, though, you must go for treatment about once every week.

There are other choices in natural back pain relief too. Many herbs and botanical products have considerable healing power. A few of these remedies also lessen painful inflammation and diminish symptoms of discomfort. If the cause of your condition is swelling and inflammation in your back, a good number of these natural preparations can ease this problem. These properties are not only useful foryour  back, but can also alleviate various other aches throughout the body.

Capsicum patches are another natural relieving remedy. You affix this patch to the painful region where it releases its analgesic properties. These patches can be worn for several days and remain effective even when they get wet.

There are a number of other options when it comes to natural treatments for back problems, including yoga exercises and other exercises for back pain relief. If you’d like to avoid taking pharmaceutical products to manage your condition, there are many choices that you can feel safe and comfortable using instead. Just don’t forget to check with your doctor before using any of these alternative treatments.

Conventional or Natural, Treatments For Sciatica

As many of those who suffer from sciatica know, regular treatment for sciatic nerve trouble is not always effective and is often short-lived and needs to be repeated as the symptoms reappear which means a lot of time spent inextreme discomfort

The symptoms have often been difficult to treat, but a new option to this debilitating problem now promises to provide effective relief in most cases with little or no risk.

Get Rid Of Sciatica Naturally Now! Click To Learn How

Natural treatments are also starting to provide some effective suppport alongside conventional treatment and sometimes instead of it as more and more people are turning towards natural relief for sciatic problems, herniated disc or bulging disc and leg or lumbar discomfort and sciatica buttock pain

Causes of Sciatica

Sciatic nerve irritation

The term is often used to describe uncomfortable sensations going down the leg, however the true definition is irritation of the sciatic nerve, which is a combination of several nerves as they leave the lower back. The majority of cases of sciatica are caused by herniated or bulging discs in the lumbar spine. These discs are soft cartilaginous structures that provide cushion between each vertebrae.

Bulging disc/hernia

Discs have both inner and outer portions. The inner area is softer in consistency compared to the outer portion because they have a higher water content. Once the outer fibers become weaker or are damaged the softer material begins to move its way outward because of the pressure on the disc itself. As it moves out it begins to create a bulge or whats called a hernia, causing the disc to protrude outwards and narrowing the hole where the nerve exits.

This can cause pressure and inflammation that can eventually irritate the nerve which in turn causes severe discomfort, numbness or weakness down the legs and in the back

Conventional treatment

Traditional treatment programs typically consist of targetted medication, injections and in severe cases surgery. These approaches may work in the short term to reduce inflammation and decrease the pain somewhat, however they also carry with them significant risk.

The risk to reward benefit is often not worth it long term as most of these treatments are only temporary. If the problem becomes more severe and the nerve is actually compressed then these treatments may offer no relief at all.

Steroid injection

One of the most common treatments applied is steroid injection. This helps to reduce the inflammation. This can definitely bring temporary relief however it has a side effect. Discomfort may come back even worse. It can also trigger an increase in blood sugar.

Surgical intervention

If sciatic pain becomes unbearable then surgical intervention may be recommended. In a small number of cases this treatment may provide relief, at least temporarily. The problem is that surgical outcomes on the spine are low with about a 50% success rate and it brings with it significant risk factors. A common condition called failed back surgery syndrome is associated with spinal surgery and can the result of excessive scar tissue formation, spinal instability after surgery and increased stress on other spinal structures. The risk is also there for the need for a repeat surgery down the road.

Newer methods

Spinal decompression

Spinal decompression is a new procedure that is very effective in relieving symptoms. This treatment doesn’t have any risks or side effects Spinal decompression gently and logarithmicly pulls the spine, safely bypassing the guarding reflex muscle contraction associated with traditional traction. This procedure allows a therapeutic pressure to develop inside the disc space that helps to heal the disc and reduce inflammation or the bulge. This procedure has 80% success rate.

Spinal decompression corrects the problem for a long time. It helps alleviate the discomfort for a long period of time. As the research continues, more and more benefits of spinal decompression continue to arise.

More natural treatments are also available including acupuncture, Eft therapy, special dietary programs to control or reduce inflammation, the use of deep relaxation techniques, such as meditation, the active practice of laughter, massage, chiropractic, magnet therapy and many more.

All the same, most lower back problems can be treated with the fitting low back pain exercises which you need to do regularly. Relaxing your back muscles and freeing them from undue tension are two very critical things that you need to remember while performing the exercises.

You must also realise that performing these exercises will not cure your back pain overnight. A balance in all areas of life including your diet, posture and mental attitude are of great consequence to the success of this treatment. Although adequate rest is required, you want to avoid resting on your bed for too long because your back condition might get worse and the healing process might take longer.

It is highly recommended that you confer with your doctor first for further medical advice and make sure that it’s safe for you to do the back pain exercising. Seeing that everyone has unalike physical conditions, certain back exercises may not be apt for certain back pain conditions. Any Ideas On How To Get Rid of Sciatica Symptoms?

Sciatica is one of the main problem areas when it comes to back and spine problems

This can be a cause of sudden twisted motion on the lower back to the back of the legs where sciatic nerves are found

For most people, it is caused by continuous stress on those areas.

>Sciatica symptoms? Click for Free Book 7 Day Back Pain Cure while stocks last
For others, the  symptoms might be infrequent and irritating, but have the potential to get worse especially if one doesn’t try to find the right treatment. In this connection, you might wonder what is the best way to get rid of sciatica symptoms? Is it some sort of medication prescribed by the doctor or could it be some sort of therapies in the form of exercises? There are other medical reports that say that two of the most effective treatments are yoga and tai chi.

Yoga and Tai Chi Exercise

With yoga being as popular as it is there should be no surprise that there are many different yoga exercise styles. Some of today’s yoga exercise styles have been around for hundreds of years while other yoga exercise styles have been created and based off some of the most common yoga postures and poses. Today, even in the world of medicine and health, some people have used yoga mainly for treating different diseases. Yoga is also used as the best exercise for sciatica and so far, this is the best sciatic nerve treatment that any  patient can have.

But are yoga or tai chi  the best treatment for this kind of ailment? If you go through the Internet, you will find that there are more than a dozen different treatments and it includes a lot of alternative sciatica exercises. Sometimes, a patient might be confused as to what kind of treatment is best for him. Some people might find a specific treatment to be effective for them but not for the other or vice-versa. Choose what works for you.

What Is The Best Sciatica Cure?

Most people who are in their old age already can be victims of sciatica, which is a pain that results from irritation of one of the sciatic nerves and includes pain in the hip and buttock area.

But the fact of the matter is, anyone can have sciatic problems, even those who are still in the prime of their age can experience sciatica especially when they try to do some sudden twisted motions that could irritate or compress the sciatic nerves found on the back of the leg all the way up to the lower back. For some, this can be a temporary problem but if they can’t find some right sciatic stretches exercises in time, it could turn for the worse.

Sciatic problems can be easily eliminated only if you know what type of remedy that is good for it. The problem is, most people may have found the right sciatic pain treatment but they don t do their own part so that their health problem can be eliminated in time. Yes, they can exercise their sciatic nerves to bring it back to its original state but if they keep on doing things that have made their sciatic nerves painful and tender, then, that treatment they have been using is worthless. So, what are the things you need to do in order to prevent sciatica or to get rid of sciatica as soon as possible? First of all, if you’re lifting something, don’t lift while standing, meaning, you have to squat down in order to lift something without hurting your back.

It’s really very important that you should also take care of your body and be conscious of what you’re doing especially when it involves your back or your spine. However, if you are thinking about a sciatic cure in the form of drugs like steroids or painkillers, you better go to the doctor first but if you need natural help, go and look for these specific sciatic exercises.

Acupuncture Techniques and Chiropractic Treatment Can Get Rid of Your Back Pain

It isn’t always fundamental for you to look for a common healing approach if you are experiencing back pain. As a matter of fact, frequently when medical science is ineffectual in helping a person overcome pain, some natural techniques have been discovered to be extremely effective. One of the reasons why is because natural methods tend to search for a cure for the actual origin of the problem while medical methods treat merely the symptoms. If you’re looking for natural approaches that have been shown to be effective in helping back pain and a number of other difficulties, you don’t need to look any further than chiropractic and acupuncture.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been performed for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine. It is acquiring popularity in a number of other areas of the world and for a splendid reason: A larger majority of individuals have undergone relief from their back pain and many other afflictions by visiting an acupuncturist on a routine basis. In keeping with traditional Chinese acupuncture therapy, small needles are inserted into the body at distinct points that are known to affect a number of different areas of the body. In traditional therapy, only the needles are used, however sometimes and in particular today, tiny electrical currents are sent through the needles into the body. Even though it may seem as if it would be painful, it hardly ever is and, actually, many people experience relaxation and pleasurable sensations during acupuncture treatments.

Chiropractic

A Honolulu chiropractor, also called a doctor of chiropractic, has been assisting people suffering from back pain and other problems for over a hundred years. A chiropractor cares for individuals who are in pain due to musculoskeletal and nervous system challenges. Chiropractic medicine addresses the deviations of the vertebral column that inhibit the function of the nervous system.

These misaligned vertebra can lower resistance and immunity, thus causing new health problems. A proficient chiropractor has superb observational and diagnostic skills that help in discovering physical irregularities and joint conditions. Many chiropractors complete neurological tests and orthopedic tests. Some will analyze the posture of someone in order to identify postural deviations, and additionally may analyze a person’s gait to determine faulty movement patterns. Chiropractic management non-invasive, drug-free treatment and in addition will offer advice and provide education concerning the benefits of individual lifestyle changes, such as in exercise and nutrition.

So, if you suffer with back pain, headaches, neck pain, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, balance challenges, or arthritis, and you’ve tried a number of other things and and you’re still suffering, chiropractic and acupuncture may be able to help. One way to find out for sure is to visit a good chiropractor or acupuncturist, and to allow them to clarify for you exactly what they are able to do for you. More than likely you will experience some relief from your suffering even after only one visit. With subsequent visits, you will maintain your improvements, and it is likely that you will find that these natural treatments work best for your back pain.

Have a Life: Arthritis Control

Red, burning, swollen and so stiff you don’t want to move ? That’s what those who suffer from arthritis experience on a daily basis. If you know this all too well, you are probably one of the 46 million Americans (that’s 1 out of every 5 people) who are living with arthritis every day. To better understand how to get relief from this debilitating disease we need to dive deeper into its root cause.

Some of the types of arthritis which are associated with inflammation include:

* rheumatoid arthritis
* gout            * tendinitis
* bursitis      * polymyalgia rheumatica

What is Arthritis?   Arthritis actually means joint (arthr) inflammation (itis). Arthritis can be used to define a group of more than 100 rheumatic diseases and other conditions that can cause pain,  stiffness and swelling in the joints or any part of your body.

Additionally, it can damage the joint cartilage which can lead to joint weakness, instability and visible deformities that can interfere and, in severe cases, limit a person’s ability to perform most basic daily tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, using a computer keyboard, washing dishes or brushing your teeth. Arthritis can affect anyone regardless of age and most commonly affects joints in the knees, hips, hands and spine. If left undiagnosed and not treated properly, arthritis can cause irreversible damage to the joints, bones, organs, and skin. Not to mention dramatically impair your quality of life.

Arthritis-related conditions primarily affect the muscles and the bones but it is also considered to be systemic, affecting the whole body. Arthritis can cause damage to any bodily organ or system, including the lungs, kidneys, blood vessels, skin and even the heart. The Arthritis Foundation sites two independent studies (Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota) both of which prove that the widespread inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis is linked to heart disease and an increased risk of early death.

No one really knows the exact cause of arthritis but there are certain risk factors to keep in mind:
* Genetics – likely to contribute to risk but no one knows how much.

* Age – the older you are the more at risk you become.
* Weight -maintaining a healthy weight will ease the load on the joints.            * Previous Injury – major injuries are likely to contribute to risk.
* Occupational Hazards – repetitive, high demand jobs increase risk.
* Certain Sports – high level, high demand sports can contribute to arthritis (however, general exercise is always a plus)
* Illness or infection – an infection in the joint or gout can lead to arthritis.

What we do know is that when you have arthritis your immune system goes into overdrive and causes the joints to swell and become inflamed. Therefore, treating the inflammation becomes key in managing the pain and discomfort associated with this condition.   Sadly enough, the Arthritis Foundation reports that half of those Americans with arthritis don’t believe anything can be done to help ease their pain. You may be in that situation yourself, having thrown your hands up in frustration and simply decided to live with your pain.

The good news is that by reducing the inflammation you can significantly ease the painful symptoms associated with arthritis.

Here are a few ways to reduce your inflammation:
* Exercise – less weight equals less stress on joints
* Diet – Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits and whole-grain products; limit           sugar, salt and fat (especially saturated fat found in animal products)
* Rest – a good balance between rest and activity is the key to joint health
* Over-the-counter and prescription medications – while these may provide temporary relief by masking the pain they do not always get to the root of the problem – inflammation. They can also have serious side effects, especially with long-term use.
* Natural anti-inflammatory supplements – probably the most promising natural approach to reducing inflammation in a long while. We recommend looking for supplements containing systemic enzymes and  all-natural herbal ingredients.

By taking these simple steps to reducing inflammation you will be well on your way to managing your arthritis pain and its devastating effects on your mind and body.

Everyone should strive to achieve a healthy and active lifestyle for optimal health and wellbeing.

Finally… A Safe, Effective, All Natural Pain Reliever

Dan Monahan had reached the point where he was willing to try anything – anything to ease the constant pain and inflammation in his leg. He could no longer walk.Even standing was uncomfortable. His doctor gave him several prescription medicines but nothing helped.

Pain was ruining his life.

When Dan saw an ad for this natural pain reliever, he was skeptical.

How could this product work when every prescription his doctor gave him hadn’t? But he decided to give it a try.

Let Dan tell you what happened:

“Was I pleasantly surprised!  After only 2 to 3 days on the activation dose, I noticed reduced inflammation and less pain in my leg.”    After just three weeks, Dan started walking again. This all natural product worked for Dan when all of his prescription drugs hadn’t.

You can relieve your constant, burning pain when prescription drugs no longer work – just like Dan did – with Heal-n-Soothe.

That’s because Heal-n-Soothe works differently than prescription drugs. Here’s how: Prescription drugs reduce inflammation by switching off important compounds your body needs. Natural Treatments, Exercises For Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain relief can be achieved in a variety of ways, but firstly it is important to find get an accurate diagnosis for your particular ailment, so that pain relief can be correctly administered. A doctor will usually arrange for an MRI scan to detect the actual cause of your back pain.

pain lower backIn many cases lower back pain will be caused by a muscle spasm, this can be caused by many reasons such as sitting at a desk for several hours every day or sleeping on an old or non supporting mattress. Even stress and tension can lead to problems. In cases such as these relief can usually be obtained by over the counter medication that will reduce pain or swelling such as aspirin, Tylenol, naproxen, ketoprofen, and ibuprofen.

However natural alternative treatments are also available

In more serious instances back pain can be due to an injury to the spine, usually caused by an accident, or perhaps by lifting and twisting at the same time. In many cases an injury to the spine will result in a herniated disc which in turn can lead to more serious lower back pain symptoms such as sciatica or spinal stenosis, however, although these conditions may cause considerable discomfort,  back pain relief can again be obtained fairly easily.

If a lower back injury is recent, you may need a day or two of rest, however rest for lower back problems is now known not to be a cure, as rest can cause the muscles to become stiff, and will add to your recovery time. It is strongly advised to get up and walk, even if it’s for just a few minutes, at least once every hour. Although over the counter pain relievers and anti-inflammatory treatments help ease the pain, they should not be taken over a long period of time, as they can cause other health problems, such as stomach ulcers, and in certain medications, addiction.

A preferred option is exercise. Exercises are one of the most important self treatments for lower back pain relief. Exercises that are specific for your particular lower back pain symptom will usually give you fast relief as they strengthen the core muscles that support the spine, improve the flexibility in the spine and improve posture. Non impact aerobic exercise also have many benefits, but the focus should be on exercises that are safe, if you are unsure always consult a professional back pain adviser.

Stretching exercises will also help in your quest for pain relief. Stretching should be carried out slowly, concentrating on the lower back, hips, quadriceps and hamstrings. Stretching exercises will naturally cause pain, but this should be pain from the muscle being stretched, if you feel pain in any other areas you should immediately stop, but if done correctly stretching should increase your flexibility in the region of 20% within the first month and reduce the pain considerably.

Sciatica Pain: How To Treat Sciatica Nerve Pain

Sciatic Pain is one of the most common conditions of back pain sufferers. Sciatica is a condition that causes pain in the buttocks, leg and back and can even travel down to the toes. There are several stretches and treatments that can help eliminate your sciatic leg pain

Sciatica – Sciatic Pain in Leg

Sciatica is likely one of the first words that come to mind when thinking of leg pain. This article offers a brief guide to understanding sciatica, as well as methods for treating sciatic pain in leg, back, and buttocks.

What causes sciatica?

Sciatica is a term used to describe a set of symptoms, not an actual medical diagnosis. Sciatic pain starts in the lower back from a pinched nerve. Contrary to popular belief, sciatica is not passed on genetically. The sciatic nerve becomes pinched as a result of a spinal injury or conditions that occur during aging. A herniated (or “slipped”) disc, weakened spine, spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), or a lumbar subluxation (vertabra in an improper position) are some common causes of a pinched sciatic nerve.

Symptoms of sciatica

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body. When pinched, pain can follow the nerve from the lower back, out to one side or the other of the buttocks, most notably causing leg pain down the back of one leg and sometimes into the feet and toes.

The actual intensity and duration of leg pain and other symptoms can vary widely between individuals. Sciatica may be a minor irritation for one patient, while another may experience debilitating sciatic pain in leg, rear, and lower back.

Recovery from sciatica often takes only a few weeks, but some find sciatic leg pain to be much more persistent – sometimes lasting months or years. Symptoms may grow worse over time.

Please note that if you experience increasing weakness or loss of sensation in the legs or any loss of control in bowel or bladder you should seek immediate medical attention.

Treatment for sciatic leg pain

Any treatment of sciatica must begin with an accurate diagnosis of the source of trouble. Arthritis and piriformis syndrome are two conditions frequently confused with sciatica as they have similar symptoms.

Once the cause of leg pain has been determined to be sciatica, treatments may include:

  • Physical therapy or chiropractic care to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve
  • Alternating heat and ice massage therapy for pain relief
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs and steroids to relieve inflammation and related pressure. Natural pain relief too
  • Energy therapy such as EFT
  • Steroid injections into the spine (epidurals) to relieve inflammation and lower back pain
  • Surgery

    Sciatica Home Treatment

Sciatica refers to the pain that is referred down the leg from the scaitic nerve which emerges at the base of the spine and is sometimes referred to as lower back pain.

lower back pain Back pain and sciatica are treatable! Back pain and sciatica sufferers are not doomed to the surgeon’s blade. A bad back can be dealt with effectively, without surgical intervention, if proper bad back strategies are implemented early and followed consistently.

Have you ever gotten out of bed and felt that nagging feeling in your back, a kind of stiffness that doesn’t seem to want to go away with normal movement? Have you ever started to bend over and felt that twinge in the lower back, perhaps radiating down the leg? Have you ever bent over to pick up a child, a pet, even a package and felt a blast of pain? Has your back pain and sciatica ever gotten so bad you had to stop what you were doing and rest?

Take charge with natural sciatica home treatment

If you have answered yes to any of the questions above, you are in good company. Unfortunately, back pain and sciatica are a pain complex suffered by literally millions of Americans every year. In fact, almost half a million people are operated on every year for what most people refer to as a bad back. Severe and chronic pain may be caused by many things but is often the result of the stress, strain, and trauma we impose on our muscles, connective tissue (tendons and ligaments), discs, and even the vertebrae themselves.

And when they are stressed so are we. A large part of chronic pain management is learning how to relax enough for the pain to go down and self hypnosis which you can do at home would be recommended for this.

While it is true that many back injuries are the result of significant trauma and disease, the majority of back pain and sciatica results from normal, day-to-day activities. what is the pain in the middle right side of my backThe activities resulting in back strain and injury may be as mundane as working around the garden, sweeping the driveway or raking leaves, shoveling snow (always a good one), lifting laundry or grocery bags, household chores, and picking up children or grandchildren.

Often, simple adjustments to movement and behavior, properly and consistently implemented, go a long way towards preventing or at least minimizing back strain and its consequences. A few bad back strategies in particular are quite effective in minimizing the consequences of back stress and strain:

first and foremost, be aware of body position while engaged in activities that may impact the back, particularly the lower back; next, maintain good posture through exercise, conscious thought, and eventually, habit; third, make sure to stretch often, usually as part of a total exercise program; along with the third bad back strategy, integrate a consistent, individualized, and professionally supervised exercise program into your life; next, make sure to always know your limits; and, always listen to that still, small voice in your head, if it says you’re pushing it, you probably are; finally, lose weight.

Significantly, added weight may have more of a negative impact on back health than any other single factor. If you are carrying extra weight, you are placing incredible stress and strain on you back. The combination or all of these strategies, tied to an intelligent weight loss and exercise program, will do wonders, often alleviating, then eliminating, back pain and sciatica

Ultimately, a medical consultation may be the wisest strategy, particularly if your back pain and sciatica continue for more than a few days. Do not wait for it to worsen! If you have engaged in an exercise program and are losing weight, you should begin to experience relief quickly. You will be amazed at how soon after beginning an intelligent, focused, and individualized exercise program you start feeling real relief. If you do not, see your physician and he or she will recommend a good orthopedic surgeon or neurologist. Don’t wait until you are disabled to get help, it is not necessary and the damage may be irreversible without surgery.

Try regular use of a heat pad. Satisfied users swear by it!

Bad back strategies are easy to implement and, from personal experience, are easily made habits, allowing you to significantly minimize, and ultimate eliminate, your pain. After years of pain and surgeries, weight loss and exercise, along with the other strategies mentioned above, allowed me to re-enter life as a participant and not just as a spectator, miserable, depressed, and disabled. It is not easy and it takes conscious effort but it is doable and the results are amazing! So remember, posture, positioning, lifting, exercise, and weight loss. If you follow these five bad back strategies you will alleviate, and eventually eliminate your back pain and sciatica.
