Cannon ball! hey everybody, it's doctor jo! it's a beautiful day to do some aquatic therapy.A big thank you to my uncle for letting us borrow his pool for the day.Today, i am going to show you some aquatic therapy gait exercises.This is just to get you warmed up, get everything stretched, get everything moving, and then i'll show you some other tutorials for the exercises, and everything.In the pool, it's very easy to not have proper technique.It 's very easy to just swing your body, be all over the place, but it's really important to work on your.
Technique because you don't have to worry about falling.So it's all about exaggerating your techniques and getting the stretches you need.So starting off it's going to be simple walking forwards and backwards, and sideways, and some marching.But it's really important to do the proper technique.When we are walking, naturally we hit our heel first, and then roll off onto our toes.If we have an injury, then we don't necessarily do that all the time.So just exaggerated the movement.Try and keep your body upright while you are walking.Hitting your heel first, and rolling off onto your toes.Heel first.
Rolling onto your toe, keeping your body upright.Again, heel first, push off on your toes.See, i'm still keeping my upper body nice and straight.I'm not leaning forward, i'm not leaning back.I'm keeping my body upright.Do that about 3 or 4 laps.Then you are going to go backwards.Now your toes are going to hit first.So toe, roll back on your heel.Toe, roll back on your heel.It's really easy to start leaning back.Try not to lean back.If you leaning back, you're going too fast.Toe, heel.Toe, heel.After you do that about.

Hey everybody, it's doctor jo, and today i'm gonna talk to you about how to use a cane properly.You would think that such a simple thing wouldn't be that hard to do, but even people on tv like dr.House and rumpelstiltskin, they don't use their canes right.And i always tell my patients that you don't want to fix one thing and then have something else hurting because you're not doing it right.So let's get going, i'm gonna show you some real simple steps on how to use your cane properly.So some important things to know about the cane.
Before you start walking with it is to have the cane the right height.That's one of the biggest things.You want your cane to sit about where you hip bone is.That bottom bone the greater trochanter sits about right here.And you want your elbow to have about a 20 degree angle.So it's gonna sit about like this.You don't what it too high because that's gonna make your shoulder irritated and hurting, and you don't want it to be too low because then your'e gonna lean over into the cane.The cane is really just to assist you with.
Some balance.You're not supposed to rely on it and put all of your weight on it.The next important piece is what hand to hold the cane in.A lot of those tv show people like to keep the cane on the same side of their injured leg.You actually want to hold it on the opposite side.So if i'm holding it in my right hand, my left leg is the one that needs help.Your cane is gonna always follow the injured leg.So if that foot goes.
Forward the cane goes forward.If it's back behind, the cane is behind.So i'm actually gonna walk a little bit and show you.You always want to start off with that injured leg, so you can bring the cane forward.So it's gonna follow the whole time.So it's not going first and then you kind of stepping and going through, that would just not be safe at all.But it's following that side the whole time.Cane in the opposite hand, following that leg.Once you do it a couple of times, it becomes pretty easy.Sometimes.
